Acupuncture

Acupuncture is typically the most well known modality of Traditional Chinese Medicine. While people often turn to acupuncture for pain relief, it is successfully used to treat a wide array of health conditions. Acupuncture improves circulation, decreases inflammation, regulates hormone balance, and decreases stress. It has been shown to be an effective treatment for issues ranging frominfertility to headaches.

During an acupuncture treatment sterile, one-time-use, disposable needles are used. The needles are inserted and retained for various amounts of time depending on the condition being treated.

Herbal Medicine

Chinese herbal medicine has been used for centuries. Vast amounts of clinical experience and research have made Chinese herbal medicine an extremely effective healing modality.

Here at Montoya Medicine we only use herbs from highly reputable companies who use GMP standards to test for heavy metals and pesticides. The companies we choose to work with are committed to cleanliness of their products focusing on safety, quality, and herbal efficacy.

Chinese herbs are most often prescribed in combinations or formulas. Many of the formulations have been passed down for generations. The ability to customize these formulations through the addition and/or subtraction of specific herbs further enhances their efficacy.

Nutritional Medicine

Proper nutrition is essential for anyone hoping to achieve optimal wellness. Most people plagued by illness are lacking proper nourishment. Our integrative approach ensures we explore food choices in addition to incorporating nutritional supplements into your healing program as needed.

Cupping

Cupping therapy employs the use of suction between a specially designed cup and the patient’s skin. This therapy decompresses tissues by gently pulling outward. Cupping encourages circulation of blood and lymph while helping to tone skin and tissues. This is an extremely effective therapy to help reduce pain and stiffness in the body.

The treatment methods described above are some of the more common ones used by JoAnna in patient care. However, acupressure, gua sha, moxibustion, and electro-stimulation may also be used. The ability to utilize these various modalities allows treatments to be customized to a patient's individual needs.
